Seasons change…weddings are forever!
New Mexico offers so much this time of year.
1. Do not turn your back on the season!
There is no use pretending you are a June Bride in October. No more pastel pinks, embrace the russets, reds and golds…look for the purple asters and tall Maximilian Sunflowers along the Turquoise Trail. Let the hues and tones of the native landscape guide you.
2. Let the Harvest begin!
And start with your wine. New Mexico wineries offer some exceptional values, especially this time of year. A great way to share New Mexico with your out of town wedding guests. Have fun at winery tastings and learn about our local wines too! Order direct from the winery and get a few extras that you can send a bottle as a Thank You and a Holiday gift.
3. Would you like to fly… October is Albquerque International Balloon Fiesta time but you can fly high for many months. New Mexico hot air balloonist are eager to get you up, up and away! Contact them to get group rates.
4. Is it Chili in here or is it just me?
Not just you, it is chili all over New Mexico at this time of year! Red or Green, Mild, Medium, Hot or Crazy Hot you can have it your way and it should be part of any autumn wedding meal in Santa Fe or Albuquerque.
A roadside roaster can provide you will all you can eat. The aroma of the roasting chilis will get you thinking. Be ready with a flour tortilla and a little chopped tomato and you are set for a quick taste test. Can’t decide?
Do like the locals do, order “Christmas”!
5. The sun sets earlier and that can be a good thing for couples hoping for a sunset ceremony.
Let’s face it, sunset is romantic but in June you won’t be getting married until 9:00pm and if you are serving dinner aftwards it is getting pretty darned European, eating at midnight!
A talented photographer is going to make the most of the autumn daylight. There is a new clarity, a vivid brilliance and you will see it in those ceremony photos.
Lots to think about, lots to do!
Have fun with it all and remember that it is your wedding, your day.
Make sure all choices are the ones that will make people say, “Oh, that is so them!”
See you soon…on the mountain.
Any other ideas ?
