We love hearing from our couples as the years go by. Lots of you come to visit, that’s even better!

This week was very special. Big news from Taylor and Mike (summer 2009) that little Calvin arrived on Jan 2.  Thank you both for sending the picture, what a lot of blonde hair!! We are all glad that all is well with the new family and looking forward to our next visit.

Megan and Jeff (summer 2008) emailed to say that their wedding photos are featured in Destination Wedding magazine. Check out the images and story of their Hacienda wedding on-line at Hacienda Destination Wedding.

We are always so pleased to see and hear of the accolades bestowed on Hacienda Dona Andrea de Santa Fe by professional photographers. They see the beauty of the Hacienda and see the work that goes on behind the scenes. In some ways they are our most critical reviewers.
Allison Ruth of Allison Ruth Photography captured a wonderful day for one of our couples a few months back.

How do you pick a Wedding Photographer?

My Santa Fe Wedding suggestions:

You are hiring a person, not just a Wedding professional, a photographer. Be sure  you can speak to and be understood by the photographer. You want candid shots? You want lots of portraits? Documentary style? Black and White? Did the photographer hear you or where they selling you on their style?

Get references from the Wedding venue and from previous clients. These are the people who know how this person is to work with before, during and after the wedding.

Be sure to get everything in writing. Wedding photography can be one of the most expensive items in your overall wedding budget. Santa Fe Wedding photographers are pretty good at letting you know up front what the costs will be. Don’t be shy, ask!

Here are amazing images in a Santa Fe Wedding slideshow . This was a wedding in September ‘09 at Hacienda Dona Andrea de Santa Fe,courtesy of Kitty and Craig at Twin Lens Images here in New Mexico. What fun we all had!

What about you? What are your thoughts on this subject ?

Santa Fe weddings are popular and outdoor weddings in Santa Fe rule!

This a big part of this Hacienda’s appeal, so many of our couples want that spectacular view as the backdrop for their ceremony.

I was told about a link to a great Hacienda wedding video from last year. One of our couples had the time of their lives. The dog had a great time too!

A wonderful mix of Jewish wedding traditions and New Mexico wedding party!

Enjoy!!

ps thanks Vlad Chaloupka for the amazing video.

Looking forward to your replies...

During our years hosting and facilitating New Mexico weddings we have worked to establish some control over our lives, both personal and professional.
In the very personal business of Weddings there can be a very fuzzy line between the two.

So what is the difference between a Surprise, an Unforeseen Development or heaven forbid a Crisis?

Last minute wedding changes can be exhilarating or difficult. It is just a matter of perspective.

Which brings me to the subject of this posting.

They come in a variety of categories, these last minute Santa Fe weddings.
1. Why wait?
We are engaged, we want to be married and we want to be married right now.

2. Won’t the folks back home be surprised?
Santa Fe is so beautiful,  we want to get married while we are here on vacation.

3. Change of plans because now we are:
a. expecting a baby (congratulations!)
b. moving, transferred, deployed (lots to do)
c. accepted into a graduate program (going to be very busy)
d. exhausted by it all (wedding plans got out of hand, huh?)

4. Oh my gosh, we forgot to get married!
Been engaged so long that people have stopped asking “When’s the wedding?” so let’s just do it!

Sometimes there is just the two of you, simple and intimate. You call on Tuesday for a Thursday afternoon ceremony. A few precious words, you kiss and off you go.

Often we are asked to take up an entire wedding plan for next year and move it to next month. In such cases the couple often wants very few alterations (maybe change the flowers from spring tuplips to autumn sunflowers, perhaps just let the gown out a little). Your guests can get caught up in the sparkling energy of a “moved up” wedding, making these some of the most festive and fun we’ve seen.

Whatever your reasons might be for a planning your Santa Fe wedding with just hours, days or weeks until the “I Do” you can be confident that the professional wedding team here at Hacienda Dona Andrea is standing by ready for a call such as yours.

From our perspective, way up here on this beautiful mountain, there are no unforseen developments,  never a crisis.

It is all one big, wonderful, exciting surprise to us…everytime!
